Today is all about dressing for warmth.
White linen blouse
Jigsaw long cardigan
M&S long woollen skirt
Clarks suede shoes (with a nice purple button!)
The collar is pinned with my grandmother's brooch.
I wore it first as an art student.
I never thought then that I would end up as one of the blue rinse brigade!
For Patti's Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style.
It was your glorious hair (and style) that prompted me to click on your site from Visible Monday. Hurray for the blue rinse brigade! I love the elegance of such a lovely heirloom on the linen blouse, and I also love the style of the coat-sweater over the long skirt. The fact that you were an art student doesn't surprise me. Clearly your eye has only gotten better over time, just like your hair.
ReplyDeleteKind words on such a dull day, Jean - many thanks!
DeleteHey there! Lovely to come across from Patti's and meet a new lovely blogger! I looked at the piccies and decided I'd like to come and see you! I adore your cardigan- such an attractive colour and the beautiful shape! Wow, brooch is beautiful and how nice it has a history! I've been recently wearing my Grandmother's scarf-clips and that's made me happy! Ooh, you were an art student- what was your preferred medium?x
ReplyDeleteHello Kezzie, Yes, there is something so pleasing about wearing an item that has been passed down through the family. The long cardigan is warm and easy to wear and is good over trousers.
DeleteI worked only in oils until my first child was born and then, so that I could keep my hands clean (and not poison her!) and stop and start more easily, I painted in watercolour. Most of my work as an illustrator was then in watercolour with an occasional foray into oils or mixed media.
Rosemary, I love your hair....but, I think I have said that before. How wonderful to have a piece of your grandmothers. It is lovely. Oh I love my Clarks. Always look forward to seeing what you are wearing. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThese Clarks are wide fit black suede with a purple button and oh, so comfy - I have the feeling that they were designed just for me! /:-)
DeleteI too love your hair. And does any of us, in youth, think we'll end up as members of the Blue Rinse Brigade? Seemed impossible 40 years ago : > Your long sweater is cozy and lovely and the pin is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it, Patti, but forty years ago I was already going grey!
DeleteWhat a beautiful brooch, and I love the long cardigan! I'm looking for more pieces with that long line - so graceful, and warm!
ReplyDeleteDear Val, I'm watching to see when you get a lop-sided haircut, it hasn't happened yet!
DeleteI always enjoy wearing my various family pieces and take great pleasure in the knowledge that my daughters will appreciate them after me.
I am a blue rinse member too I suppose, or at least in serious training. Your cardigan is gorgeous! You look chic and strong and feminine at the same time. I love your student photo too.
ReplyDeleteI would describe you as a rainbow personality, Melanie, capable of wearing any or all the colours you please!
DeleteThe student passport photo got a bit chewed up during the teething years!
What a lovely long cardigan to wear at home. Or anywhere ... it looks more like a soft coat to me. Lovely brooch. You are still clearly that young woman, matured.
ReplyDeleteHello Jan, Yes it is a go anywhere cardigan, although it can only be worn over something fairly thin; it looks and feels far too lumpy and bumpy over a jumper.
