This week I'm reading
I'm not yet half way through. The writing is beautiful, with a first person narrator who moves back and forth between the present and the past. I have no idea as to how, or indeed whether the two periods of time will come together.
How is this for a riveting opening !
Joining Diane who hosts Tuesday Intros.
What a poignant intro! No matter how we might feel about this pairing, the emotion resonates. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've finished the book I think that your choice of words is spot on, Laurel. It is certainly a poignant and emotional read!
DeleteOh this sounds like a good one. I recently read another John banville about the Greek gods interfering with life today - unfortunately can't remember the name of the book. I loved it and, passed it on to my friend who hated,it - hey ho, you can't win 'em all:)
ReplyDeleteI am SO impressed by this novel, Elaine, it's very quiet but devastating and with an ending that projects you forward beyond the closing of the book.
