Buttons

Grim weather, so it's on with cosy layering. I'm wearing clothes that are on the come around from daughters - I'm the third wearer of the 'coatigan' and the second wearer of the blouse. I've altered the buttons on both items. There were just too many on the cotton knit - perhaps you can imagine how ridiculous they looked on the upper flap pockets!
Less is definitely more in this instance. They are lovely buttons, mother-of-pearl marked with the firm's name. I'll hope to put them on another outfit some time.
The silk blouse hand-me-down from Banana Republic fits well underneath. It came with brass buttons which I always think have a rather military look. Out came the scissors and off went the brass. I've replaced them much prettier bicoloured ones that I found in the market. They connect the detailing in the collar and cuffs.
It was a bit of a chore to sew on so many buttons!
For Patti's Visible Monday at not dead yet style.

  1. I love a coatigan! Goat do great ones as well i like that color on you.

If anything I would like to get one made to properly fit as one would get lots of wear of that piece in the UK. I would get less pockets as I dont need anything to fluff me up!

but I do think buttons make a big difference as well

    1. I've got three coatigans, they are all cozy and can be dressed up or down. The buttons on this one are lovely but on bust line and hips they were just too much!

    1. I always feel happy in plum/violet/purple colours. There seems to be a lot of burnt orange in the shops this autumn, looking lovely on the model and the hanger but terrible on me. I'd love to wear scarlet as well but just can't carry it off.

    1. I've started to grow my hair, it's been in a short style for years and I fancy a change. It will take a while to get any length and I may well give up. Watch this space!

  4. Very smart! And very smart choices with the buttons. It surely is your color ... no one wears it like a petite platinum blonde!

  6. The buttons from the market are a perfect match!
Now that you mentioned the upper flaps I can't stop but think of buttons on those flaps. Very funny picture on my mind. :-)

  7. Yes, you've got the picture!

So glad you are back in Blogland, Paula. I'm growing my hair and it's driving me crazy - I know you will understand!

    1. *giggling* Oh yes, I understand. *ggg* Last month I wanted only some trimming back in the neck, but not in the front or on the sides. A good hairdresser will never just cut your hair back in the neck. *sigh* I felt quite depressed when I arrived at home. When I explained to Mr Paula, why I am not happy at all he laughed out loud.
Lessons learned. Scissors shorten hair. What a surprise?
