It's cold outside, so here is a ceramic to give a little warmth, a teapot with a base to keep the tea hot, or to stew it gently! The pot was a present to my mother from her Danish friends and bears the inscription Munk Holte (of which I know nothing.) I think that it dates from the thirties.
Of course the best place to be at this time of year is inside, like Bertie, relaxing on cushions with a biscuit.
Bertie takes the biscuit.
Or tucked up all nice and cosy in bed.
As I mentioned on the 'titfer' posting, Wee one was always a very good model - especially when sleeping!
As she grew older a good way of keeping her still was to play a story tape. As a result we both knew the opening chapters of 'Heidi' and 'Swallows and Amazons' off by heart!
Keep warm.
I love the watercolors. When my daughter was little I would often sneak into her room, sit and watch her sleep. Bertie and Willie would get along well. Willie is presently curled up next to me. Have a wonderful Sunday! Bonnie
ReplyDeleteSadly Bertie is no more. He belonged to our friends Janet and Steve and he was the friendliest little character. He did the cozy leaning in close routine whenever you sat down! One spring he disappeared down a badger hole and despite frantic efforts broke all our hearts by never coming back up.
DeleteLovely little sketches Rosemary - makes me see what you mean about outlines (remember we had a talk about this when we met earlier in the year.)
ReplyDeleteCan't remember what I said, but I hope it was helpful!
DeleteI love your watercolors Rosemary. They are so sweet and touching. You are a very talented artist.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the praise! Both daughters have now outgrown me and I am glad that I made so many drawings and watercolours of them throughout their childhood. They provide good memories.
DeleteFunny to see your teapot, I am looking in all possible places for the right teapot. Why can't I live in a tea-drinking-society? :-)
ReplyDeleteWatercolour is my favourite medium, because I love the nature of paper!! Your paintings are beautiful!
Yes, good quality paper is absolutely crucial for watercolour. I used to use a rough handmade paper with a very particular surface that did all the work for me, but sadly it went out of production. It was a joy!
ReplyDelete(The Danish teapot may look nice but it doesn't make good tea!)
