Designer of dreams!

I went to the Dior exhibition at the V&A last Thursday evening. The title, 'designer of dreams' is well and truly earned, the clothes were indeed the stuff of dreams.
The curator, Oriole Cullen, gave an introductory talk. She was wearing a Bar jacket. It had only slight alterations to the initial design and was absolutely up to the minute. She wore it with jeans and looked wonderful!
And here is the first Bar suit.
I have always loved it. It is pretty near to perfection!
Along with just about everything that followed.

(Until we get to Galliano!)
The exhibition is huge and excitingly presented.

I love the work of the present head of Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri, she retains the spirit of Christian Dior in her own beautiful creations,

dressing the stars for red carpet occasions.

This is one of her dresses in silk tulle for spring/summer '18.

A room of toile - glorious!

This 2019 magazine shot shows the Bar jacket and skirt in its most recent form, absolutely up to the minute whilst still referring back to the original of the 1940's.

I really do love this look!

    1. Yes, it was a real treat. I have always loved the Dior 'New Look' and remember the excitement it caused after clothes rationing and the drab war years.

  2. Definitely an exhibition I would love to see! If only there was more time... I've been to the V&A years ago, it was a "must" every time I've come to London in the past.

  3. I did a short course at the V&A when I was a student and have had a soft spot for it ever since. The show has been extended and is a sell-out.
