Farewell Fidel

Four years ago I went on holiday to Cuba. What an experience! The city of Havana was captivatingly beautiful, in spite of being in a state of extreme neglect. The squalor of the living conditions for some of its inhabitants was distressing. How curious the way that the vulnerability of the place only  seemed to increase it's beauty.
Change is happening and the death of Fidel Castro was announced today. Hopefully things will soon improve for the people of Havana and they will be able to enjoy a decent roof over their heads.

  1. Oh Rosemary, the hotel and vacation industry is lining up. I bet the ocean around it is beautiful. I heard once it was the site of Atlantis.

    1. We went to the coast after staying in Havana and were very under impressed, mainly by the poor standards and over-indulgence of other holiday makers. Our daughters have had holidays in Cuba exploring other areas and loved it. We all think that Havana is fantastic.

  3. Beautiful photos! I hope to visit someday. Cuba seems so incredibly interesting, and I want to see it before it changes too much.
