I'm watching the 'Great British Bake Off' where one of the contestants has such a wonderfully lipsticked mouth that I can't see what she's baking for watching her perfect cupid-bow lips as she puckers and ponders, and in moments of extreme tension chews on her lips. I can't remember when I last bought a lipstick, it must have been a considerable few years ago. I have always worn a quiet, understated nude colour. My first lipstick as a teenager was Miner's 'Gypsy Clover' and I stayed with it for decades. Then I went upmarket with Helena Rubinstein's 'Pearl 229' which is a lovely product in every way, the casing is a smooth stone effect, looking and feeling wonderful in the hand. But watching that expressive, well-painted mouth on television I decided that I was in need of a bit of colour!
Well, perhaps not this much!
I've chosen Mac's 'Asian Flo.'
I wasn't wearing my pink glasses when I chose it so it's lucky that they fit together.I was wearing these lilacish specs when I chose the lippy. Anything with a blue element to it seems to work quite well for me.
It's raining today and I'm housebound, doing Monday chores. I'm wearing an indigo chambray shirt-waister from Toast that is comfortable and practical. It has all the elements that I like - sleeves, pockets and a decent length of skirt. It's worn with a Hobb's belt, purple suede flats that were hand made for me decades ago and an amber necklace, a present from one of my daughters.

You look mahvelous dear, but don't tell me you are dusting and cleaning the house like that. I look like a rag picker when I'm at home. I don't wear makeup anymore (why should women have to paint their faces when men don't?) but I love your pink lipstick that matches your glasses. I can clean up when I want, but I rarely want to that bad. Handmade shoes? Love it.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually the great unadorned on the makeup front, the only thing that I need to replenish regularly is moisturiser. I've noticed in recent years that young British women are blathered in makeup and think it a pity as it reduces their face to a mask.
Delete(My housework is minimal and done without skill or enthusiasm, you can tell from my outfit that I don't take it seriously. In the garden, on the other hand, I'm dressed like a tramp and get down to work with gusto!)
I love your arty photo! Heh. And I love your new lipstick. I didn't wear any for years, and suddenly I started wearing bright red and still do. Aren't the cases alone such luxurious? I agree, your at-home wear is very top notch. And those shoes...!
ReplyDeleteI've had those shoes for years and my only regret is that I only had one pair made. I was ordering shoes for our daughters when they were small (The First Born now approaching 45!) when I saw his stack of dyed skins and had to have the purple. He just drew round my feet and a week or so later I collected the finished result. They are SO comfortable - and wearing well!
DeleteGreat new lipstick! And handmade shoes, how delightful. Thanks for linking, xo

Always a pleasure to join your party, Patti, and so what everyone is wearing.
DeleteThe lipstick and the glasses look lovely on you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Maybe, I'm glad they fit together. The glasses are rather silly, but, hey, that's a good thing!
DeleteThat denim dress is really the most perfect of dresses. And I just have to say that you look so fabulous in the bright lipstick that I think you should start making it your thing. Gorgeous.
