May Day, May Day!

It's Bank Holiday and Visible Monday but, guess what? In the fine old tradition of British Bank Holidays, it's raining. The sensible thing to wear when popping outside is a waterproof hat with a very big brim!
There's a saying, 'ne'er cast a clout 'til spring is out.' Translation, don't take off your warm clothes until the weather becomes civilised. Just the briefest show of sun warms the greenhouse at this time of year and it's the best place to be, but even so I'm wrapped up in a long-sleeved blouse and a cosy cashmere cardi.
Armani specs
M&S cardi
Banana Republic silk blouse.
Patti is wearing a grey dress in today's Visible Monday. I love grey and have a couple of summer dresses in grey just waiting for warm weather. Currently on display at the Bath Museum of Fashion is this fabulous outfit of grey velvet, lace and silk, so beautiful to look at but, I imagine, quite demanding to wear!

Now that's what I call 'visible'!

  1. Yes, that magnificent dress is a work of art, and a lot of work! Thanks for sharing it, and your fab hat, with Vis Monday. xo

  2. That grey dress is beyond beautiful.

We have had some wonderful warm spring days interrupted by many more days of cold, rainy, and grey ones. Except for the winter coats, I have kept all my winter clothes front and center in my closets.

  3. Oh yes, that dress! Heavenly, but as you say, what kind of convoluted construction lies beneath... I can't imagine how hard it must have been to dress for South Africa with all these layers.

I love the photo of you in your smart hat and sunnies. Soon it will be warm. Get ready to toss the "clout," a new word for me. Heh.
