This is a story featuring Kate Atkinson's likeable ex-private detective, Jackson Brodie who is supposed to be retired but, of course, gets mixed up in all sorts of murder and mayhem. It's a lot of fun, with a large cast of disparate characters who eventually come together. (Although I didn't think much of the ending.)
Here is the opening page for Diane's Tuesday Intros.
Oh, I loved this book! Kate Atkinson is one of my favorite authors. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to returning to my books. It has been awhile since I have had the time to simply sit down with a book in my hands. This sounds like it might be a good summer read.
ReplyDeleteIt has been awhile since I've read this author. I would keep reading.
ReplyDeleteCan I be a middle-class wanker too? Heh. I hate when I get to the end of a good book and then, bam, the end is less than stellar. But in this case it sounds like it was worth it overall.
ReplyDeleteI like Kate Atkinson too -- I haven't read this yet.
ReplyDeleteI loved this series of books and read them all, especially after seeing Jason Isaacs playing the main character on tv.
ReplyDeleteOh, I feel so bad for this poor guy...everything seems to be going wrong for him in this beginning! And then the wankers appear, to top things off! Lol. Sounds like an interesting read, with plenty of humor included. I might give this one a try!
ReplyDeleteThanks for featuring this novel! Thanks as well for visiting my blog earlier! :)
