December 1st marks the official start of winter and it certainly felt it - only too easy to imagine that I was waiting for the slow train to Moscow!
We had spent the morning doing some Christmas shopping, popping in and out of shops and getting thoroughly chilled in doing so.
So we stopped for a warming lunch and our table was beside this railway carriage.
In actual fact it's an old film prop, talk about shades of Dr Zhivago! At least there was no Rod Steiger to frighten me. (But Omar Sharif would have been nice!)
What a lovely thought...a train ride with Omar Sharif...sigh. Oh course we must have the beautiful costumes as well. Have a wonderful week. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteGeraldine Chaplin's fur hat - I could do with it now, the weather is freezing!
DeleteDr. Zhivago. Now that says winter. And Xmas shopping in a cold climate. Look at you all lovely and cozy. Around here it's flip flops and palm trees. Nice weather but a bit difficult to get into the mood. Omar Sharif. Yep. He's a good one!
ReplyDelete'Lovely and cozy' - no such thing! My fingers, toes and nose were solo cold. Flipflops and palm trees sound like heaven to me.
DeleteOh The Object Lesson. I don't own that one.....yet. Now be a good girl so that you will get your wish. Or in Gorey's case, maybe you should be a little bad. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI looked online at the various Gorey summaries. 'The Object Lesson' sounds lovely. (And I can do bad quite easily and well!)
DeleteSweet romantic memories! I went to see Dr Zhivago on my first trip to London with my first husband-to-be. (it was Desperately Seeking Susan with husband-to-be number 2!)
ReplyDeleteI can't recall which film I first saw with Himself - it was a long time ago! We went to the pictures at least once a week in the winter as it was a great place to keep warm. I remember dancing/leaping along the street with him after having seen 'West Side Story' as though we were in the opening sequence!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cool place to eat!!! I really do like your polka dot sweater!! X
