Je t'aime Visible Monday

Wrap up warm time is here and I'm back in a cosy jumper. But, what's this? Am I also in fashion! In the November edition of 'Red' magazine I've spotted a piece by the fashion editor, Alexandra Stedman saying that her Bella Freud sweater, 'Ginsberg is God' is possibly the favourite item in her wardrobe. I feel rather the same about my version; it's light but warm and also fun and references my era, the '60's 'it' couple English actress, Jane Birkin and her lover, the French/Russian, Serge Gainsbourg.
And I'm quite capable of stepping up to the plate and wearing it with a full skirt, although on this occasion I gave the tulle petticoat a miss!

I'm wearing a peace poppy for Remembrance Sunday, cotton skirt from Phase Eight, old black leggings and ballet pumps and a Victorian velvet choker.

  1. What an "it" couple they were - they embodied cool. Great sweater and I love the peace flower. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xox.

    1. Red poppies are sold everywhere but it is harder to buy a peace poppy. I like the clear message that it sends. I noticed a politician this year wearing them both together which I think is a good idea.

  2. Oh Rosemary. What a terrific outfit! You are just as cool and elegant as Jane in her prime.

    1. Jane was of the 'too cool to care' variety and that isn't me at all. But thanks for the compliment anyway, Connie!

    1. I bung leggings on under most of my dresses and skirts as soon as summer has disappeared, they are cosy and the most comfortable things to wear.

  5. I absolutely LOOVE that top. You look fantastic in it! The skirt is perfect for it too, with or without tulle.
And I really love your peace poppy. I haven't seen anything like that around here so I was thinking of making my own for when I go out tomorrow.

    1. Did you make your poppy? I can also see you attacking a jumper or two with messages! What would you write?!

  6. Smarty pants! Love it. If you can look as pretty as you do in this entire outfit (so cool in your combinations) and be as sly as you are with your Gainsbourg and Serge, you have made your statement!

    1. The jumper makes the statement - even 'though I don't believe what it says!

  7. You are so cool that I don't know the half of what's going on! I love the peace flower too. Maybe I'll do a stitch up of Simone deBeauvoir et Jean Paul Sarte on my sweater. They were my idols...

    1. de Beauvoir and JPS - now you're talking! I was always deeply unimpressed by the rather scraggy duo of Jane and Serge, although she did look very much the 'it' girl of her era. But I do love my jumper and it has made me also think about how I might customise a plain one. Fred and Ginger?

  8. Yes - you are so cool! My daughter-in-law said this to us at the weekend when we said our favourite in-car track is Hey Boy Hey Girl by The Chemical Brothers.
Maybe all '60s people are cool!
