Fun fur!

It is cold outside, but outside is the only place where I see and talk to anyone other than Himself. The current Covid death toll means that we are being ultra careful and no-one has been inside our house for months.  Thank goodness for my new fun fur coat, a present from  a daughter! It reminds me of my mother's voluminous old beaver coat. In it I look like a bear about to hibernate - but a warm bear, so that's okay.

For the first time ever we are going to be having Christmas without any family or friends around us. Government rules would allow us to meet but we have made our decision. It seems unwise just to throw caution to the wind after having been so careful all year. I think that we shall be eligible for a vaccine fairly early on in the New Year. (Elderly - moi! Decrepit - how dare you!)

When we and half the country have been jabbed we shall party. There will be many reasons to get together. The village plans a big party to welcome newcomers to our small community, we have friends whose deaths this year we intend to commemorate  in style and other friends who have been successfully dealing with cancer treatments. Bur really we don't need any excuse at all just to PARTY.

  1. Adore your Purple Paddington coat, warm and furry, like wearing a favorite childhood stuffie. We, too have been and will stay in for the duration. No family dinners or visits- as it has been since February- we will get through this and then watch out- is there even enough champagne?

  2. We are living our life similar to you and have had infrequent outside visits with family. We did a food exchange with two of my children for our Thanksgiving last week and got to play Mr. and Mrs. Santa to our new granddaughter in our open garage. It was short but lovely. I do not know how Christmas will be, but we will get together thru Zoom and try to make the best of it. There is light and hope now as I just heard the news of the UK and the vaccine that will soon be distributed.

I know, Rosemary that you will make the best you can of the Christmas season and will find joy, no matter the circumstances.

    1. Dear Maybe, as always your words are so warm and encouraging. Like you we shall be zooming and face timing with family throughout the holiday - not the same but better than nothing.

  3. You look very cozy in that wonderful coat! Like you, this will be the first time ever that we have celebrated Christmas without family or friends. I also feel like we’ve come this far; it would be foolish to throw caution to the wind now. We will have a Zoom get-together with our family and look forward to the time we can all be together again.

    1. Snug as a bug in a rug describes me rather well in this coat! Keep safe and well, Kathy, and awe shall all be able to celebrate in style once this terrible virus is under control.

  4. Warm and cosy, that's how to go about this winter, never mind how bear-like (or not) we look :-)
We will still celebrate Christmas Eve with my parents, but there will be only six of us, and that is the same group of people I have been meeting all the time, so no "new risks" introduced.
Exactly, one does never need an excuse to party!!!

  5. Your post reminded me of my mother's beaver coat that I would "draw" on as the fur was so easily manipulated. It annoyed her, as I can understand now. That coat was the only thing of value she ever owned. It's a challenge to stay vigilant, but the fact that vaccines are near is a great incentive. Hurrah to being "old"!

    1. Oh, yes , I can just see your little fingers making patterns in your mother's fur coat! My mother looked absolutely drowned in hers, but I suppose she felt that she was the height of fashion!
